Shameem Akhtar, MD, is a board-certified internal medicine specialist and part of the growing FMOL Health | Our Lady of Lourdes Physician Group Hospitalist team dedicated to providing the exceptional care patients need while in the hospital. She is versed in diagnosing and managing patients with acute and/or chronic conditions, providing comprehensive care to each person. Dr. Akhtar earned a medical degree from Chittagong Medical College in Chittagong, Bangladesh, before completing an internal medicine internship and residency at LSU in Lafayette. She worked in private practice and at area hospitals before joining Our Lady of Lourdes Physician Group.
