Sara Serio, MD, a board-certified neonatologist, is part of the skilled, experienced and knowledgeable provider team caring for the area’s smallest patients in the Our Lady of Lourdes Women’s & Children’s Hospital Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. As Acadiana’s only Level III Surgical NICU, the unit provides family centered care with access to local pediatric surgery and other subspecialists treating the unique healthcare needs of children born prematurely or with other health issues. Dr. Serio earned a medical degree from the Universidad Autonoma de Guadalajara in Zapopan, Mexico, before completing a residency in general surgery and pediatrics at New York Medical College and Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla, New York, and a fellowship in neonatal-perinatal medicine from New York University Grossman School of Medicine in New York City. She is certified in pediatrics and neonatal-perinatal medicine by the American Board of Pediatrics.
