Palliative care provider Michelle Bergeron, MD, specializes in improving the quality of life for people with serious, chronic or life-threatening illnesses. She is specially trained in managing complex medical symptoms and providing comprehensive care that addresses the physical, emotional and spiritual needs of patients. Dr. Bergeron earned a medical degree from LSU Health Sciences Center in New Orleans, where she completed a residency in general surgery. She later completed a fellowship in hospice and palliative care medicine from the New York-Presbyterian Hospice and Palliative Care at Cornell University in Ithaca, New York, and Columbia University in New York. Dr. Bergeron is board certified in general surgery. She is a member of the American College of Surgeons, American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons, and American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Care Medicine. Dr. Bergeron completed summer internships in 2011 and 2012 with the Louisiana Department of Health and Hospitals Office of Infectious Disease and Epidemiology.
