Meet Dr. J. Michael Robinson, a Louisiana native from Lake Charles, whose expertise in non-surgical and sports medicine is second to none. You are likely to see him on the sidelines or in the dugout during LSU sporting events. He is currently the head team physician for LSU baseball, track, swim, and tennis. He is also involved and helps cover LSU football, gymnastics, cheer, and Tiger girls.
Dr. Robinson's journey to excellence began at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center in New Orleans, where he earned his Doctor of Medicine Degree. Following his residency and internship in Family Medicine at Lake Charles Memorial Hospital, he pursued further training in Sports Medicine through a clinical fellowship at LSU in Lafayette. Here, he honed his craft in non-surgical techniques and interventions, including ultrasound-guided procedures. As a non-surgical orthopedics physician, he cares for non-sports related issues as well. These include arthritic conditions, overuse injuries, such as tendinitis, and generally pain of any joint.
As a board-certified physician, he not only tends to the needs of LSU's esteemed athletes but also dedicates his skills to the players of Woodlawn High School, serving as their dedicated team physician.
